I do not know about running the game in DX9. My 2 certs are, that if you really want to play this game, with all "maxed out", you need a quad cpu, and a multi-gpu system.īut like I said, if you run the game at optimal settings, with 2xAA, the game is STILL really good in pciture, plus, the gameplay is good also. You can check this thread, specially pages 2 and 3, to check how demanding the game is. and when you hit spots with fire, high AA is going to kill your average fps. You can easily get really ugly frame drops in certain spots, during hdd access you can get stuttering and popping bc the game is trying to load textures. The game is very demaning in graphics, so even if you can run it in ultrahigh settings, don't spect the game to behave allways nice. the picture is really good at 4xAA already, and going to 8x will kill bt 15 to 18 fps out of your gaming. Another thing, 8xAA does not really make sense in this game >4xAA its going to eat your card alive w/o any real and nice improvement on picture. It needs to be disabled on drivers, and set in-game. If your HDDs are not in good shape you will suffer from it while playing. They need to be defragged, ant they need to be fast.ĪA must be handled in-game settings, or you get really weird stuff. I've never had it in-game but yes, the game engine is at certain points, demmanding with the hard disk(s). With duo you can play it, but you need a FAST ONE if you do not what to bottleneck the game When it's running OK at 8X AA I get 45 fps so, again, what gives? Is the engine that poorly optimised for the PC?įinally, why is it that the Ultra High settings still show scenery and shadows popping in and objects' LODs changing closer rather than further out? Mesh fences look particularly ugly as you approach them as they change between several different and very noticeable LODs.Ĭlick to expand.FC 2 Its a really good and optimized game engine FOR MULTICORE, I mean quads.

The gfx_maxfps command when set to 45 or even 60 on my setup does smooth the framerate out but if I enable 8X AA, which my system can handle with ease, then I get bizarre bouts of slow-mo from time to time and the framerate drops to 15-20 fps. I've noticed that hard drive is constantly being accessed during the benchmark so I wonder if it that which causes the stutter? That said if the minimum framerate is a healthy 44 fps, why am I even seeing ANY hitching? Similarly in-game, despite running at 60 fps, it occasionally feels very stuttery. Yet despite the minimum framerate being 44 fps, you can see the benchmark stuttering/hitching in places even though the framerate counter never drops. On my setup the DX10 FC2 benchmark at Ultra High settings, 1680x1050 and 4X AA with Widescreen enabled gives me an average of 54 fps with V-Sync off.
